Dental Hygiene Treatment
Our fully qualified and experienced Dental Hygienist is an expert in the treatment and management of periodontal (gum) disease. Hygienists fulfil a very important role by supporting the dentist and periodontist (gum specialist) in preventive dentistry and helping patients maintain healthy teeth and gums. Research shows that periodontal disease can result in serious health consequences such as increased risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and premature birth with low birth weight.
Our hygienist will give you a detailed diagnostic assessment for periodontal disease which includes an evaluation of the bone loss, bleeding, gum recession and pocketing. These results will be recorded to allow for future comparision which enables the disease progression to be tracked. You will be provided with a customised treatment plan on how to best care for your teeth and gums, prevent tooth decay and maintain optimal oral hygiene.
Dental hygiene treatments range from the removal of plaque, calculus (deposits that collect on teeth) and staining such as tea, red wine and tobacco, to more complex periodontal (gum) treatments. Regular hygiene treatment will ensure healthy gums and a brighter smile!
