Porcelain Crowns and Fillings
Crowns are tooth-shaped covers that are placed on front or back teeth. Porcelain crowns can be very life-like and beautiful. This procedure is carried out on heavily filled or cracked teeth which are weak and susceptible to breaking. A crown will protect and preserve these teeth and may be the only possible long-term treatment.
The outer layer of the existing tooth and filling is reshaped making it slightly undersized and a mould is taken. This information is sent to the laboratory so that the crown can be made to precisely fit. A temporary cover seals the area while the permanent crown is fabricated. The crown is checked for fit and appearance and then cemented or bonded.
